Walker Corp busy working at Citiswich business park

National Property Developer, Walker Corporation, have been very busy over the last few months at the $1bn CITISWICH Business Park, delivering over 45,000sqm of new industrial space for major tenants Australian Pharmaceutical Industries (API) and The Reject Shop, alongside finishing a major road project within the estate.

Walker is now only weeks from completing and handing over a new 19,000sqm distribution facility for API, well ahead of schedule.  The new facility will be operational by Christmas and will service over 900 pharmacies and Priceline stores across Queensland and Northern NSW, employing approximately 180 people.

Walker also kicked off construction of a 26,000sqm facility for The Reject Shop in June this year, and already the structural steel, façade and exterior of the building are now complete.  The new northern distribution centre will be complete by early next year, and will have the capacity to service over 200 of the discount retailer’s stores.

Other businesses who have re-located to CITISWICH include Australian Wood Panels and Andrew Print Transport – both businesses relocating out of existing facilities in Sumner Park. They join Australian Hardboards, Hume Masterpanel and Capral Aluminium at the growing estate.

Last month Walker completed the major upgrade works to Ashburn and Bognuda Streets, a main thoroughfare through the first stage of the estate.  The completion of these works will now enable better access throughout the site and on to the Warrego Highway.

Walker is also well underway to completing the extension of Hoepner Rd which will create a new link between the Warrego Highway and Brisbane Rd.   This is a significant piece of transport infrastructure that will directly benefit users at the estate, as well as surrounding residents by creating a new, safer link between the major arterials.

General Manager Development & Projects, David Gallant said that the surge in construction activity at CITISWICH has generated renewed interest in the development, particularly from local users who are reconsidering their property requirements in light of the economic recovery.

“We’ve had a recent increase in enquiry at the estate, and many of these business owners have been surprised to find that we can actually save them significant amounts of money each year by providing a purpose-built property solution tailored to their business needs,” said Mr Gallant.

“CITISWICH provides a great destination for businesses looking to build their new headquarters close to the Ipswich CBD, while having excellent access to the national highway network and being surrounded by good amenities and a skilled, growing labour force.  History also shows that Greenfield developments like CITISWICH are a good long-term investment for businesses, with many owner-occupiers experiencing long-term capital growth on investing early in new, masterplanned estates,” he added.

Land at CITISWICH Business Park is available for sale or lease, with lots starting from 3,000m2.  The estate will be developed over the next 5 – 10 years and is planned to include amenities such as a café, gym, childcare and community recreation precincts.

Walker Corporation is actively developing over $3bn of industrial property nationally. CITISWICH Business Park is the company’s largest project, valued at over $1bn and spanning over 335 hectares.
