Massive government investment into transport upgrades and new roads in the Ipswich growth corridor will directly benefit those users who choose to locate at CITISWICH.

The main transport artery from Brisbane’s west to the Port of Brisbane and the Brisbane International Airport is currently being upgraded, with land capacity being increased from 4 to 6 lanes, and new intersections improving connectivity of the road to other major highways.  These works are expected to be complete by 2010.

A proposed new Northern Bypass will link Dinmore to the Logan Motorway and reduce travel times between the CBD and Ipswich.

$86 million Warrego / Cunningham Link Road:
A proposed new link road, connecting the Cunningham Highway to the Warrego Highway, with connection points close to the CITISWICH estate, reducing travel times between the two major highways.

The Centenary Highway is being extended by 18kms to connect to the Cunningham Highway, south of Ipswich.  The new road connection will alleviate traffic from the Ipswich Motorway, improving travel times into the Western Corridor. Expected completion in mid 2009.

$10 million new Hoepner Road Extension:
As part of Walker’s infrastructure works at CITISWICH, the company is extending Hoepner Road to create a new B-Double connection between the Warrego Highway and Brisbane Road.  Works have commenced on this new road, which is expected to be complete by mid 2009.

The Ipswich region is the nation’s most important growth corridor, facilitating the greater expansion of south east Queensland by providing a new hub for residential and industrial development away from the coast.  Ipswich’s population of 150,000 is expected to double by 2026, and the Southeast Queensland Regional Plan calls for new employment lands, such as CITISWICH, to facilitate the region’s growth.

Many businesses are relocating Ipswich and the burgeoning Western Corridor to capitalize on the area’s booming population and economic growth. Estates such as CITISWICH are providing new cost effective industrial land as Brisbane fast runs out of supply.  Major new investments in Ipswich, both public and private, show the phenomenal growth this area is experiencing.

LIVING IN IPSWICH
Ipswich is a network of distinct communities interwoven with green, open space and rural landscapes, serviced by major infrastructure and transport facilities, and well-linked to employment and education centres.

The city has been recognised internationally as the Most Livable Mid-Size City in the World at the 2007 Livcom Awards for Liveable Communities in London.  This award underscores social and cultural growth of the region and the progressive nature of the local council.

WORKING & RECRUITING IN IPSWICH
Ipswich has a strong and growing labour force with a trend of increasing participation rate to 2006.  The population growth will be driven by employment growth (through employment lands such as CITISWICH), as well as the development of large residential precincts including Greater Springfield and Ripley Valley.

The city is characterised by a high level of blue collar workers who reside in the region, with considerably higher proportion of workers compared to south east Queensland in the occupations of Tradespersons, Labourers and Production & Transport workers.  The industries of construction, wholesale trade, transport and storage have high levels of labor supply compared to demand, indicating the potential for business to target these sectors for an employment base in the region.  Ipswich provides strong potential for industrial business to successfully employ staff in the region to manage and operate businesses.

There are a number of employment and recruitment agencies servicing the Ipswich area.  Please contact Ipswich City Council for further information.
