Walker Corporation has today (Wednesday 20 January, 2010) announced that KSB and Caltex Australia will move to their $1bn Citiswich Business Park at Ipswich, joining API, The Reject Shop and Capral Aluminium at the estate.

KSB, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of pumps, valves and related systems for water management, will build an ultra-modern 2,000sqm facility on 7,791sqm of land to accommodate its operations and brand new, state-of-the-art machinery.

KSB will relocate from an existing facility at Sumner Park, with their new site accommodating expansion space to compensate for future growth plans.

Dave Alexander, the Managing Director of KSB for Australia and South Pacific, said the opening of the new KSB office will be an asset to providing local industry in the area with high quality pumps, fast tracked after sales service and spare parts at short notice as well as providing local knowledge and accessibility with ease.

The new KSB complex will also house the Water and Waste Water Centre for the company in Australia.

Caltex will be developing a new unmanned diesel stop at the estate – a much needed piece of infrastructure not just for Citiswich, but the wider Ipswich logistics and trucking industry.

Caltex’s investment at Citiswich comes as they finish up a similar facility in Brisbane’s north at Zillmere, and as another facility at Parkinson commences construction.

Regional Manager of Caltex, Scott Nichols, said “We chose Ipswich and Citiswich as our next destination for this type of centre due to the opportunity to capitalise on an already strong industrial business sector, but also the future growth opportunities that an estate like Citiswich provides.

“The vast majority of the state’s available industrial land is at Ipswich and Citiswich provides us with the opportunity to service a wide range of businesses moving into the estate, as well as the existing industrial business operators within the Ipswich region.”

Both KSB and Caltex expect to commence construction on new facilities by March, and anticipate being open and operational during 2010.

National Industrial Manager of Walker Corporation, Michael Sutherland, said that both businesses will be major assets to the local business community, providing necessary industrial services to local businesses and really kicking along the development of the estate.

“The commitment of both KSB and Caltex to Citiswich is a major win for Ipswich jobs and growth. These smart, forward-thinking companies have chosen Ipswich as the best destination to grow their business. Ipswich offers the best economic growth, population growth and long-term prosperity of anywhere in south-east Queensland.

“KSB & Caltex recognise that getting in early at Citiswich is a good capital investment for their company – choosing to invest in Greenfield developments before prices start to increase is clever thinking and will offer their business the best chance for long-term growth,” said Mr Sutherland.

“Citiswich is really building momentum - we now have the likes of API, The Reject Shop, KSB and Caltex at the estate, and new enquiries are coming through each week. This shows that Citiswich is a great destination for both big and small businesses. We can accommodate land parcels from as little as 3,000sqm, right through to 50,000sqm + for sale, lease and turnkey enquiries,” he added.

Ipswich mayor Paul Pisasale congratulated Walker Corporation on the rapid growth of Citiswich.

“I want to thank Lang Walker and the Walker Corporation team for backing the future of Ipswich and the western corridor.

“The location of Citiswich and the significant investment made by Walker Corporation has placed the precinct in a strong position to attract more new businesses to the city,” he said.

KSB and Caltex join API, The Reject Shop, Capral Aluminium, Australian Hardboards, Hume Masterpanel, and Australian Wood Panels at the $1bn estate.

Citiswich Business Park forms part of a $3bn portfolio of industrial projects that Walker is completing in growth centres around the nation, including the new 30 hectare Northpoint Business Park in Murrumba Downs on Brisbane’s northside.
