Construction Starts On New Costco Outlet At Walker Corporation's $1 Billion Citiswich Business Park In Ipswich
Construction works have commenced at Walker Corporation’s $1 billion Citiswich Business Park, 25 minutes west of Brisbane in Ipswich, for a new 13,750 square metre Costco outlet to service Ipswich and surrounding areas.
The outlet is expected to be open by Christmas 2018 and feature car parking for 825 vehicles and a Costco service station for traffic visiting Citiswich and along the adjoining Ipswich Motorway, Cunningham and Warrego Highways.
The $50 million construction project will create about 90 jobs and on completion, Costco will employ 280 full-time and casual jobs when doors open to its second outlet in Queensland.
Managing Director Costco Australia, Mr Patrick Noone, said “We believe Citiswich is an excellent location as it draws on a large catchment areas from Brisbane to the Western corridor and regional areas.
“We are delighted to be part of the strong economic growth story in South East Queensland and believe our outlet will boost economic activity and further activate Citiswich Business Park”, he added.
The signing of Costco is a major coup for Ipswich and Walker Corporation as the US giant was looking at a range of sites around Brisbane, where it already has a North Lakes outlet in operation.
Queensland General Manager for Walker Corporation, Mr Peter Saba said “We believe that Costco will draw more tenants to Citiswich as the outlet will draw families and businesses from across South East Queensland”.
Walker Corporation has a range of fully serviced lots for purchase or lease at Citiswich, ranging in size from 2,000 square metres to 200,000 square metres, with B-Double access throughout and direct access to the motorways.
